In Construction!
NOTE: The Empires pages are in construction, but due to the interest in the skin, I've decided to build the pages live as I'm able to.

Information is bound to change, as I've derived some of the material from other skin-pages. If you want to make any comments, please feel free...

e.gifmpires is the evolution and refinement of the Gamers skin.   The skins share some components (notably the logo section), but the similarities stop there.  Empires 3D pseudo-realism is unparalleled - extreme gaming eye-candy!  To stop reading now and see for yourself, go here...

Each Empires skin is focused on pair of specific games, but comes with a logo Photoshop file that supports over two dozen games shown here...    ... some sample logo screen-shots here...

Empires features the use of PNG's with 8-bit alpha-transparency.  Alpha-transparent PNG's are what allow Empires to have dynamic drop-shadows and semi-transparent glass effects - these are not rendered directly in the art-work or backgrounds. Containers can be placed on any of the different backgrounds, and the shadows and glass effects look perfect.  For more about PNG's read here...

(Note:  if you really need compatability with IE6, and don't understand the issues, you should follow that link.)

e.gifmpires is a fixed width skin, that uses multiple background images for different pane areas.  All of the background images are speciifed in the css files.  (They are easy to change or replace by simply uploading new images.)  You can change most of the backgrounds by uploading new files in the skin directory.  In general, Empires skins include:

  • Two game themes each with 8 skins - 16 skins total.
  • A huge, coordinated set of containers - 53 in total including cool semi-transparent frames for  displaying screenshots, and other graphics. To see container styles, click here...
  • Simple customization of skin and container colors and background images -  without modifying css or ascx files.   See here...
  • Highly efficient but attractive 3D-graphics that stand out from the crowd.... perfect matching background images included.
  • Photoshop PSD included for generating more container color sets and other logo graphics.  (See Gamer Logo at right.)

Excellent Documentation:
Classes in the cascading style sheet has been fully commented.  HTML or ascx files are also fully commented.  Everythng required to make basic changes is accesible from the skin - whether you want to better inegrate your skin or "reverse-engineer" it!

DNN3.jpg

DNN3/4 Optimized:
Empires skins are tested with current DNN 3 and DNN 4.x and later. You may make a special request for older versions, but some features will not be available.  (This generally affects Action buttons and some specific TOKENS.  Admin buttons cannot be integrated the same way.  Contact me at www.skin3.com)

AdminSkin.jpg  Admin Skins/Containers:
Properly configured Admin skins and containers are included with each Empires release. They include a secondary horizontal menu for more simplified access.  This provides a more efficient and elegant working environment for content creators, editors and administrators.  They can also be used on normal site pages for specific content requirements.

Multi-Colors.jpg  Multi-Color Availability:
Mutliple-color container combinations allow flexibility with very larger site structures or to integrate exisisting identity materials such as logos and game-play screen-shots.  Fully customizable background images and color themes make it a snap to customize your site as required.  A Photoshop PSD logo file is included to generate more themes.

CommandButtons.jpg

Command Button Links:
X:Skins were one of the first DNN 2 skins that provided matching Command Button links and I continue that tradition with Empires.  These classes are even more accessible in DNN 3/4 and they give your forms and other module buttons a more intuitive and integrated feel.

Top.jpg

Top Button:
Tired of manually scrolling to the top of the page constantly?  Empires incorporates a "jump to the top of the page" mechanism, that does not use named anchors.  (Named anchors will not work in DNN.)  Each container and skin automatically has a "Top" link to make navigation through your long pages a snap!
