Empires features the use of PNG's with 8-bit alpha-transparency. Alpha-transparent PNG's are what allow Empires to have dynamic drop-shadows and semi-transparent glass effects - these are not rendered directly in the art-work or backgrounds. Containers can be placed on any of the different backgrounds, and the shadows and glass effects look perfect. For more about PNG's read here...
(Note: if you really need compatability with IE6, and don't understand the issues, you should follow that link.)mpires is a fixed width skin, that uses multiple background images for different pane areas. All of the background images are speciifed in the css files. (They are easy to change or replace by simply uploading new images.) You can change most of the backgrounds by uploading new files in the skin directory. In general, Empires skins include:
Excellent Documentation:Classes in the cascading style sheet has been fully commented. HTML or ascx files are also fully commented. Everythng required to make basic changes is accesible from the skin - whether you want to better inegrate your skin or "reverse-engineer" it!
DNN3/4 Optimized:Empires skins are tested with current DNN 3 and DNN 4.x and later. You may make a special request for older versions, but some features will not be available. (This generally affects Action buttons and some specific TOKENS. Admin buttons cannot be integrated the same way. Contact me at www.skin3.com)
Command Button Links:X:Skins were one of the first DNN 2 skins that provided matching Command Button links and I continue that tradition with Empires. These classes are even more accessible in DNN 3/4 and they give your forms and other module buttons a more intuitive and integrated feel.
Top Button:Tired of manually scrolling to the top of the page constantly? Empires incorporates a "jump to the top of the page" mechanism, that does not use named anchors. (Named anchors will not work in DNN.) Each container and skin automatically has a "Top" link to make navigation through your long pages a snap!
